Old Civil Engineering Building at GT is LEED Gold Certified
October 2009
The Old Civil Engineering Building at Georgia Tech recently achieved a LEED Gold level of certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
The Old Civil Engineering Building, located on the historic portion of campus, was largely unused due to its state of disrepair. In conjunction with building renovations, TSW’s Landscape Architecture Studio converted an asphalt parking lot into an outdoor courtyard framed by drought tolerant plant materials and a water cistern to collect roof stormwater for irrigation. The remaining ADA and LEV parking spaces were placed beyond the courtyard's sight and constructed of pervious concrete.
