East Atlanta Village – Six Years Later
August 2005
In 1999, while with the City of Atlanta Bureau of Planning, TSW
principal Caleb Racicot managed and prepared the East Atlanta Village
Study, which called for revitalizing this historic intown neighborhood
commercial node via streetscape improvements, shared parking strategies,
a new library, and improved marketing. Since the Study was completed,
several of its major recommendations have been implemented, including:
rezoning the district to Neighborhood Commercial, legalizing shared
parking arrangements, a new library (which opened in early July 2005)
and preparation of a streetscape master plan, completed by TSW in
2003.
Today the transformation of East Atlanta continues to implement
the Study’s vision. After five months of streetscape construction,
East Atlanta Village had a grand “re-opening” on Saturday,
July 30 from noon until 7 p.m. Read complete coverage in The Story, "East
Atlanta boasts new streets and great eats."
