TSW Planning Studio to work on Bells Ferry LCI Community Design Guidelines

July 2004

Following the Bells Ferry LCI Study, Cherokee County selected TSW to create community design guidelines for the suburban corridor. The intent of the guidelines is to balance growth and development with the corridor by encouraging redevelopment of underutilized commercial areas into vibrant mixed-use centers; creating a variety of housing choices at appropriate densities; establishing an environment of transportation options for all ages and income levels; and, investing in the area neighborhoods by weaving civic uses and buildings into the local fabric.

* LCI stands for Livable Centers Initiative. For several years, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) has been providing funding for investment studies and transportation projects located in activity and town centers in the Atlanta region. This program of studies and projects has become known as the Livable Centers Initiative (LCI). For more information, see the ARC's web site.
