TSW is committed to developing sustainable towns and neighborhoods through an interdisciplinary and inclusive planning and design process. Central to this process is an approach thoroughly grounded in the principles of New Urbanism. Our clients range from city governments to private developers to neighborhood groups.
Our typical Design Charrette engages planners, architects, engineers, market analysts, municipal staff, elected officials, and various stakeholders to develop a cohesive vision. Most of our planning and design projects include a Design Charrette that can range from half to up to 10 days depending on the size and scope of the project and amount of public participation. The Design Charrette typically concludes with a presentation to stakeholders to gather feedback about the final concept plan and the overall process.
Working as a whole group for some activities and in specified teams for others, TSW focuses on creating sustainable places while considering:
- Connectivity and circulation
- Zoning and land uses
- Commercial and housing options
- Development identity
- Architectural character and scale
- Key building placement
- Historical sensitivity
|
- Public open spaces
- Environmental opportunities and constraints
- Infrastructure systems
- Regulatory tools and policy for implementation
