William T. Tunnell, Founding Principal

Bill Tunnell brings over 30 years of professional experience in planning and architecture. As principal-in-charge of the firm's Planning Studio, Bill directs projects ranging from the planning of new towns and resorts to the detailed design of clubs and recreational facilities. His focus is the application of smart growth and new urbanism principles across a broad range of urban and rural settings.

He formally began his land planning career in 1980, in collaboration with the design team of Robert B. Hull and James W. Mozley. As an architect and planner, Bill has designed residential, commercial, and golf projects in fourteen states, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Jerry W. Spangler, Founding Principal

Jerry Spangler directs Tunnell-Spangler-Walsh's Architecture Studio and provides planning leadership to many of TSW's community projects. Drawing from over a 30 year background in architecture, Jerry has designed distinctive community and civic, residential, and mixed-use buildings throughout the Southeast.

Jerry focuses on contextual design of buildings, blending vernacular and modern elements and incorporates comprehensive site design into all of his projects.

Thomas H. Walsh, Founding Principal

Tom Walsh has over 30 years of experience as a landscape architect, urban planner, and college planner. Tom has  broad-based experience in historical master planning and consensus building.

Tom is also an avid member of the new urbanism movement. He applies many of the design principles of new urbanism to his projects to ensure the best quality project for current and future uses. He has been involved in over 50 new urbanist projects since 1989.

Tom Walsh
   
Caleb P. Racicot, Senior Principal

Caleb is a community planner specializing in public involvement, community design, codes, community retail strategies, and the use of area studies as catalysts for place making.

Caleb has worked in both the public and private sector and is an effective consensus builder. Prior to joining TSW in 2001, he practiced planning in Atlanta with the City of Atlanta Bureau of Planning. While with the City, Caleb worked on a variety of projects including urban design studies, zoning initiatives, land use plans, community facilitation, and Geographic Information Systems.

He holds a Master of City and Regional Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Caleb’s recent projects include: Hapeville Main Street Town Center LCI; Highway 278 LCI Corridor Study; Avondale Estates Downtown Master Plan, Buford Town Center LCI Study, Central Martinez Area Study, Cascade Acres Design Standards, Ponce/Moreland Corridor Study, and the Woodstock Downtown Zoning Code.

Caleb Racicot
 

Christopher Leerssen, Principal

Because of Christopher’s varied background, he brings to TSW a strong understanding of the built environment and its many facets. He has over eight years of professional architectural experience, in both research and design, public sector and private, spending years in TSW’s planning studio and currently the architecture studio.

In addition to the design side of real estate, Christopher also has years of hands-on construction experience infusing each of his projects with a sense of practicality and pragmatism. Christopher has design experience managing numerous commercial project types ranging from retail, mixed-use, small office, and institutional.

Rounding out the experience is a thorough understanding of residential products such as single-family, all sizes of renovations, multifamily buildings and units as well as townhouses. In each of these projects no matter the size, scope or type, a sustainable focus is always an essential component manifesting itself in sometimes bold and many times inconspicuous ways.

Adam Williamson, Principal

Adam is a land planner and landscape architect, and is a principal with Tunnell-Spangler-Walsh & Associates. He has worked on a variety of projects from new towns to suburban retrofits in the public and private sector. Adam has experience working with large scale master planned projects to intimate park designs. His design focus is to incorporate sustainability and urbanism to create great communities and places. As a LEED AP he has the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process for clients. As a landscape architect he brings an understanding of how to create plans that work with the topography and environment. Adam has designed projects in many states and has international experience in places such as Costa Rica, India, and Nicaragua.

Jason Wright, Associate

Jason has over eight years of professional architectural experience at TSW and brings to the architectural studio a broad knowledge of construction types from high-rise glass and concrete to interior retail design to traditional wood-framed construction. He has been involved in the majority of the architectural projects in TSW's office during his tenure and has managed some of the company's largest architectural commissions, as well as some of the smallest.

Heather Hubble, Associate

Heather joined TSW in 2004 after graduating from the University of Tennessee. Since that time, Heather has managed and been involved in a variety of projects, including mixed-use development, residential buildings, and community facilities.

Heather’s recent projects include Woodstock Downtown Mixed-use Building, Birmingham United Methodist Church, 975 Piedmont Avenue Multi-Family Development, Atlanta's 2008 Going Green House, Railside Development, and the SweetGrass Community Buildings.

Heather Hubble
 

Ryan Jenkins, Associate

Ryan is the Director of TSW’s Landscape Architecture Studio and a licensed landscape architect specializing in urban environments, streetscapes, parks and open space, and campus planning and design. Before joining TSW, Ryan’s professional career covered the geographic spectrum via a California landscape architecture firm to a multi-disciplinary international firm. He views the landscape as a functional part of the built environment and is committed to the design of outdoor spaces that mesh cultural patterns with the natural system.

Ryan draws experience from both public and private sector projects and understands the importance of identifying client needs and tailoring design services to respond to those needs. As a studio director, he provides leadership and encourages a collaborative team approach to produce consensus based design solutions.

Ryan’s recent projects include: Piedmont Park Active Oval, Piedmont Park Bathhouse and Pool Renovation, Peoples Town Park Master Plan, RiverTown Parks and Open Space Planning and Design, Georgia Institute of Technology’s Old Civil Engineering Building Renovation, Kennesaw State University Health Sciences Building, Woodstock Main Street, Avondale MARTA TOD.

David Lintott, Associate

David joined TSW in 2004 after practicing campus planning and landscape design with a local Atlanta design firm. At TSW, David is involved in both the Landscape Architecture and Community Planning Studios and manages the firm’s day-to-day IT systems. David works on local and regional projects, as well as international projects, specializing in resort tourism planning and design in Latin America and the Caribbean.

David is a member of the Congress for the New Urbanism and is an active volunteer in his local neighborhood co-op.

Rebekah Calvert, Associate

Rebekah joined TSW in 2004 as a community planner and has since taken over marketing responsibilities for the firm. With a background in landscape architecture and planning, Rebekah provides a range of skills from park design to regional planning that give her unique knowledge of how to approach marketing efforts at TSW.

Rebekah is a member of the Congress for the New Urbanism and is active in the local CNU Atlanta Chapter.
